Family members and representatives of the victims of the Peruvian coup regime will be in attendance at the Thematic Public Hearings of the 188th Period of Sessions of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights on November 10th to give personal testimony in front of the IAHCR and a representative of the Peruvian state. The hearing will relate directly to the IACHR’s Report on the Situation of Human Rights in Peru, wherein the representative for the state of Peru will need to provide updates as to how they are “improving the situation.”
The families and representatives of the victims will formally denounce the coup regime headed by Dina Boluarte and de facto Prime Minister Alberto Otárola in the IACHR hearing and in a press conference at the Institute for Policy Studies at noon following the hearing. The hybrid press conference will include testimonies from other victims virtually and a conversation between members of popular mass based movements and organizations in the United States DC area and in Peru to advance the shared struggle against US/EU/NATO interference. The International Union for Human Rights and multiple partners have worked with the families to push these denunciations of human rights abuses at the highest levels of international law.
