The U.S. empire, unable to accept the sovereignty, progress, and moral example of the Bolivarian Revolution, is escalating its aggressive attacks against Venezuela. This is by no means an isolated struggle — what started as aggression against Venezuela and the Bolivarian Revolution has already claimed several dozen lives of working-class people in the Caribbean and Pacific, extended to threats against Colombia, been linked to the militarization of Ecuador and Panama, and re-militarized Puerto Rico. This is yet another front in the struggle against U.S. imperialism, and it is interlocked with our movements for liberation in Haiti, Palestine, throughout Our Americas, across the Global South, and within the borders of the United States.
Domestically, Chicago has experienced a federal, militarized assault and abductions of colonized community members through ICE raids. The South Shore neighborhood has been a site of militarized, economic warfare, seen most recently when federal agencies conducted a military-style raid on a Black/African and Venezuelan apartment complex. Blocks away, the Department of War agency, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), has moved forward with its plans to build a Quantum Computing Facility.
Join BAP-Chicago and the Displaced Alliance for Pan-Afrikan Socialists for a teach-in connecting the struggles in Latin America and the Caribbean against imperialism with the struggle in Chicago against economic warfare, ICE raids, and the development of military technology. We will speak about the necessity Zone of Peace in Nuestra América from Chicago to Caracas and briefly highlight the work of comrades from the All-Chicago Tenant Alliance confronting economic warfare through their historic rent strikes in our city.
