BAP member organization Friends of the Congo, in partnership with African American History Club Fundation-Riderwood, CCWM, and Solidarity Group invites you to this screening of "Empire of Silence", a film for justice and against oblivion; An epic tale inside the vast mountains and forests of DR Congo.

For the past 25 years, the Democratic Republic of Congo has been torn apart by a war that has been largely ignored by the media and the international community, The number of victims is in the hundreds of thousands, if not millions.

Empire of Silence" does not spare any of the key players, neither the Congolese leaders, nor the neighboring countries, nor the international institutions. It is based on a UN document, the Mapping Report, which lists the war crimes against humanity committed in Congo between 1993 and 2003- a disturbing document that had been kept under wraps.

The screening will be followed by a discussion with the film director Thierry Michel and 2018 Nobel Prize Winner Dr. Denis Mukwege.

Admission $10. GET TICKETS HERE.
