Join the Caribbean Solidarity Network and discuss the rich history of grassroots organizing and radical political thought to explore how we can actively build community power today. Our discussion will center on the critical role of collective action, bridging historical struggles with contemporary local movements.

As a change to the usual readings, we will watch two powerful documentaries to reflect on: Takeover, which highlights the Young Lords Party's bold 1970 liberation of Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx to demand healthcare justice, and It Takes a Riot, which focuses on the history of radical resistance in Toronto and the organizing work of the Black Action Defence Committee. Complementing these films, we will read and discuss the forgotten legacy of Claudia Jones. Our goal for this session is to move from reflection to action, discussing ways each of us can get more deeply involved in ongoing organizing efforts.
