Saturday, May 30, 2026

11 AM to 1 PM EST | 8 AM to 10 AM PT | 7 PM to 9 PM EAT

The Kenya government hosted in Nairobi the 2026 France–Africa Summit from May 11 to 12th. Rebranded as “Africa Forward”, this was the first time the summit took place in an English-speaking African country. It was clear to many that the summit was part of France’s broader attempt to reconfigure its influence and strategic interests in Africa after the Sahel has slipped from its traditional sphere of control. The valiant organizers of the Communist Party Marxist – Kenya responded to the neocolonial maneuver of France by leading the convening at the same time of the Pan-Africanism Summit Against Imperialism (PASAI), which brought together activists, intellectuals, trade unionists, students, and anti-imperialist organizers from Kenya and internationally.

On May 12th, Kenyan police brutally repressed a protest that was the culmination of PASAI. A few days following the summits In Kenya, a sharp increase in fuel prices triggered a nationwide transport shutdown and protests. A delegation from the Black Alliance for Peace's Africa Team (BAP) attended PASAI. BAP invites you to a webinar as the delegation's report back and a discussion about the way forward.
