Queer Fight Club and @haitian_machete_fencing are holding a 2-day Tire Machèt workshop teaching Haitian machete fencing, a martial art form rooted in the Haitian Revolution. Learn from @palomaboricua and other Master Instructors trained in the Avril family style of Tire Machèt and engage in political education about the world-shaping and revolutionary people of Haiti from @bap_baltimore, @teshadavii, and local Haitian community members.

October 17th is Dessalines Day, commemorating the death of the Haitian revolutionary leader who declared Haiti’s independence from France. we are honoring this victory of enslaved Black people fighting for and declaring their own freedom by learning the traditional martial art form of Haitian revolutionaries.
