In this session of Assata Shakur Popular Education, we will examine AFRICOM’s role in advancing U.S. imperialism and neocolonialism across Africa.

We will explore how African political elites enable Western military intervention, repression, and destabilization at the expense of working-class Africans. We will challenge the narratives used to justify AFRICOM’s presence, including claims of promoting security, democracy, and countering Chinese influence.

Finally, we will connect these struggles to Black working-class communities in D.C. and discuss how Pan-African organizing can advance African liberation and self-determination.
