In Baltimore, the underdevelopment of African and impoverished people is evident when examining the city’s spending. Despite knowing the city faces low wages and a tight labor market, Baltimore’s leadership plans to spend $1.1 billion of the proposed $4.21 billion budget on the police. Many Africans in Baltimore are unaware of the vast amount spent on policing compared to programs that could bring real change. This town hall will explore why this happens and emphasize the importance of community control over public safety.
Join us for this town hall discussion that will move us towards a larger “How Maryland Underdeveloped Baltimore” series during election season.
