The recent and senseless murder of Justin Robinson by the MPD is a painful reminder of the police murders of DeOnté Rawlings, Alonzo Smith, Terrence Sterling, AnTwan Gilmore, Alaunte Scott and others. These are only a few of the cases DC within the last two decades. These tragedies have spanned the length and breadth of U.S history as far back as the dawn of the 20th century, sparking the creation of mass mobilizations, organizations, and coalitions intended to win justice for the victims of police violence.
But the question of justice still remains. What does justice mean in the face of a system designed to subjugate and/or exterminate us? Is it a monetary settlement? Is it locking up a few cops while thousands more occupy our communities ready to continue the repression?
Join Pan African Community Action (PACA) to discuss how we can build and exercise community power, the only permanent solution to the systemic atrocities our communities continue to suffer.
