Political prisoners are held captive and silenced in the United States, and Black Lives Matter Boston is in position to change that. On December 4th, 2021, at 11am, the Black Lives Matter of Boston in partnership with Boston Black Alliance for Peace and Jericho Boston will be hosting a ‘Curbfest for Political Prisoners’, an interactive creative event designed to galvanize the community and provide political education in service of honoring political prisoners obscured from our vision and political thought.
A political prisoner in our movement, “is a person jailed on charges related to their resistance to oppression and repression, and targeted by the state for their political beliefs and/or actions. The contribution their resistance makes to revolution is the basis of their capture regardless of the charges brought under the invalid, racist laws of the government.”
The mission of this event is to put into action intergenerational liberation work and further drive the call for political education and strategy into our communities. With an array of musical performances, words of empowerment from several activist(s), and powerful stories of revolution and triumph-- Black Lives Matter Boston is creating a space for communities to come together, honor and share knowledge on history, impact, risk and reward of Political Prisoners in the Black Liberation and Freedom Movements.
